Lower Coyote Canyon Trail, Borrego Springs

We had a blast last time we were on the Lower Coyote Canyon trail, a 18.1 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Borrego Springs, California. A Great place to bring the family and kids the beginning of the trail has a few spots with picnic tables any beautiful scenery. Overall Trail difficulty is easy and the rock garden halfway through has been cleared out from years before.

Water Crossing #1

The water crossings are not difficult by any means or that deep. There will more likely have more water present in the fall than summer months.

Water Crossing #2

Dessert Sand

There is a section of single track trail with humps and dips that traverse's through the beautiful landscape. It was fun taking those with some speed but also two pedaling as you can fall off the trail raised in elevation in some areas with ditches. Towards the end the sand is plentiful and being aired down, power sliding through the sand I was able to get the Transmission over temperature light to come on in the picture below. It was around 80* ambient that day and we had the AC on. After this trip and for towing reasons I installed a much larger Hayden transmission radiator with electric fan and removed the factory cooler. I also have a plated bumper so the airflow is restricted.
